Transgender & Gender Diverse Inclusive Workplaces

The next MEEPA event will be on Thursday, May 31st from 8:30 to noon on “Transgender & Gender Diverse Inclusive Workplaces.” The morning will be hosted by City of Winnipeg and will be co-sponsored with Assiniboine Credit Union and Manitoba Start. Due to the interest expressed in this event by our members, the venue has been moved by the City of Winnipeg to the Sergeant Tommy Prince Place (formerly North Centennial Recreation and Leisure Facility) at 90 Sinclair Street (free parking available).

Allyship is an ongoing process of examination, adaptation and change. An important part of celebrating the upcoming Pride Winnipeg celebration as well as Indigenous Awareness month, is to acknowledge our commitment to allyship and identifying blindspots that create barriers for those to meaningfully participate and contribute in the workplace.

As more individuals disclose their transgender and gender diverse identity, are workplaces open and prepared to transition along with them? MEEPA members will hear the voices of Two Spirit, transgender and gender diverse individuals as they share their workplace journeys as well as hear from Dr. Reece Malone, CEO and Lead Trainer of Diversity Essentials, who will present on best workplace practices when an employee discloses their gender identity and transitions in the workplace.

The panel speakers at the event will be Brielle Beardy-Linklater, Logan Jax and Sam MacKinnon. Please see the attached agenda for the event.
